Let your child’s imagination soar and celebrate BC Family Day together on Monday, February 8, at Richmond’s most creative festival, the Children’s Arts Festival.
The Children’s Arts Festival, presented by Lansdowne Centre, connects children of all ages with professional artists and performers who lead a unique variety of interactive performance, visual and media arts classes. New in 2016, are Parent and Child classes where parents can participate together with their children for quality and fun bonding time.
“The City of Richmond is proud to host a festival that is designed to inspire children’s imagination and creativity,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie. “The event also creates a sense of family for the community by providing an opportunity where parents can mingle and kids can play together.”
The Festival offers an exciting variety of activities and events in addition to interactive creativity classes and feature performances. Don’t miss CircusWest’s Circus of Oz, the timeless story of the Wizard of Oz infused with aerial artistry and daring acrobatics. The show is sure to amaze and delight all members of the family.
Another can’t-miss opportunity for families is a presentation by acclaimed author Kallie George, author of Magical Animal Adoption Agency. George will empower kids to read and write their own stories and create a mythical creature inspired by her books in this free presentation. Seating is limited, so be sure to pick up a pass for her presentation free with the purchase of your general festival admission in advance at Lansdowne Centre.
Participants can also have fun with yo-yos with Canadian Champion Harrison Lee, rock it out with the cool sounds of Kutapira, fly away with Canada’s own Tristan Underwood, get their groove on with the Royal Academy of Bhangra Dance and bang it out with Uzume Taiko.
The 8th Annual Children’s Arts Festival is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, February 8 at the Richmond Cultural Centre, 7700 Minoru Gate. Full details about the 8th annual Children’s Arts Festival are available at www.childrensartsfestival.ca
