The Art Studios members’ amazing creativity has once again produces and excellent selection of art cards, crafts, jewelry, paintings, pottery and textiles.
The Art Studios, an idea that began in 1992, has been a unique, nationally-recognized therapeutic haven for many living with a mental health diagnosis and/or addictions. The Peer Support model, run and organized by mental health consumers, builds self-esteem and empowers people to acquire a sense of control over their individual health care. Moving towards self-expression as a form of self-integration, it is more than just a leisure program. It’s a way of healing.
In December 2012, The Vancouver Recovery Through Art Society (VRTAS – http://vrtas.ca) was created by current and former instructors and members of The Art Studios who witness the power of recovery from mental illness and addictions through art; learning about it, creating it, and enjoying it.

The Art Studios program continues to evolve as more consumer become aware of its existence and wish to express themselves through art.
