This year the Filberg Festival is honoured to feature world renowned glass artist, Robert Held. For over 25 years Robert Held has lead the Canadian art glass industry, establishing the first college-level art glass program and influencing the art across North America. The Filberg Festival has always been known for featuring exceptional talent when it comes to entertainment. Continuing from last year the Festival will once again offer a special Friday evening concert featuring Cuban-Canadian singer-songwriter Alex Cuba. He has won two Juno Awards for World Music Album of the Year: in 2006 for Humo De Tabaco, and in 2008 for his second album, Agua Del Pozo. In 2010 he won the Latin Grammy for Best New Artist. His 2015 album, Healer, earned him a Latin Grammy Award for Best Singer-Songwriter Albumand a Grammy Award nomination for Best Latin Pop Album. http://healer.alexcuba.com. The 2016 Festival is also proud to showcase a select group of 130 artisans and makers of fine art in a variety of media ranging from metalwork, pottery, toys, woodcrafts, jewellery, paintings, glass, textiles and specialty foods.
Gate admission is charged at the Filberg Festival, as it is the primary fundraiser for the not-for-profit organization which has the responsibility of restoring and maintaining the Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park’s site and buildings (www.filberg.com).
