On March 8, International Women’s Day is being marked with a special 5-course collaborative fundraising dinner at Quails’ Gate Winery in West Kelowna. All profits will be donated to The Canadian Mental Health Association Kelowna and Slow Food Thompson Okanagan.
This year’s celebration will bring together the culinary talents of Aman Dosanj (The Paisley Notebook, formerly Poppadoms), Dana Ewart (Joy Road Catering), Mona Johannson (Sunshine Farm), Jenna Pillon (Terrafina at Hester Creek) and Sandrine Raffault (Sandrine French Pastry and Chocolate). Along with wine pairings generously donated by top female Winemakers from across the Okanagan Valley – Nikki Callaway (Quails’ Gate Winery), Pénélope Roche (Roche Wines), Heidi Noble (JoieFarm Winery), Severine Pinte (Le Vieux Pin). Each Chef will take on a course with the International Women’s Day #BeBoldForChange theme in mind.
“I wanted to bring together some truly inspirational Cooks and Winemakers with great stories, and they just happened to be female. So, it made sense to collaborate for International Women’s Day. This type of line-up has never been done before and we thought that it was time. I’ve recently volunteered with the CMHA Kelowna and food has made such an impact on the participants’ lives – it’s now time to tell those stories and raise awareness,” says event-planning Cook, Aman Dosanj.
