The Writing Contest
Do you love to write? We have a writing contest for you: the 25th annual Surrey International Writers’ Conference Writing Contest is coming soon! The contest commences this year on April 1, 2017, and the final deadline is Friday, September 22, 2017 at midnight.
First prize for the Storyteller’s Award is $1000.00 and publication in Pulp Literature Journal. Runner’s up are also published, and receive $150.00. Writers do not need to attend the associated conference to enter the contest, but if you love to write, you’ll want to attend the conference, too!
The Writers’ Conference
The 25th annual Surrey International Writers’ Conference will once again be held at the Sheraton Guildford Hotel in Surrey, British Columbia from October 19-22, 2017. Authors, editors, publishers, and agents (all the important characters on the literary scene) will be there for the top-of-the-line professional development conference.
Aside from the usual workshops, pitches, blue pencil appointments and awesome social scene, this year will be amazing because it’s the conference’s 25th year anniversary! Registration opens on June 7th this year, but be sure to register early, as last year’s conference sold out by mid-summer. (That’s how you know it’s good!)
(As a brief and hopefully helpful side note, the hotel also sold out of rooms very quickly. If you plan on registering for the conference and staying at the hotel, be sure to book fast.)
For more information, check the website at www.siwc.ca and remember: if you love to write, you need to attend this local and legendary conference this year. You can also visit the official SiWC social media platforms to ask questions or receive timely information leading up to registration or the conference itself.
