Elegant entrance welcomes guests to Victoria’s leading boutique hotel

Victoria-based designer Sandy Nygaard has brought a timeless new design to the warmth of the Magnolia Hotel & Spa lobby, creating a classic yet contemporary space for guests. The design echoes elements of the palette used in the hotel’s recent guestroom refresh seen in each finessing touch throughout the lobby, from the exquisite drapery to the stylish carpet and furnishings.

“The lobby is our living room,” says Magnolia Hotel & Spa’s General Manager Bill Lewis. “We want guests to feel at home here, whether reading by the fire, working on their laptops or sitting back to sip a tea or coffee. This makeover will make it even more inviting.”

A focal point of the lobby’s fresh look is the carpet, which is based on a hand-drawn design by Nygaard herself, that features bold magnolia flowers and lively greens, with touches of greys and taupe. The cooler tones of the carpet and sleek decor are perfectly balanced by the warm and elegant accents of gold drapery and mahogany paneling. Dramatic new light fixtures provide a chic and welcoming ambience for guests and the better placement of the furniture create a more open feel, whilst retaining an inviting air.

A fresh and exciting feature to the lobby is their newly-added coffee bar. Open for self-service 24 hours a day, the bar provides a functional and sophisticated space for Magnolia guests, suitable for work or play.

In 2013 the spacious 64-guestroom hotel’s bedrooms were fully refurbished and the hallways followed in 2016, continuing to anchor this boutique hotel as one of Victoria’s finest and most sought-after addresses.
