Food, wine and music events for all: May 26-28 2017
Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country hosts the much anticipated sold-out Half Corked Marathon this May 26-28 but non-runners can still join in the celebrations with long table vineyard dinners, concerts and recovery brunches happening throughout the weekend.
Festivities begin with the Primavera Dinner on May 26 ($90); the ultimate pre-race pasta dinner catered by the renowned Joy Road Catering. Enjoy rustic pastas, salads, and favourite wines from Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country as you dine family-style at a long table among rows of budding grapevines of Moon Curser Vineyards.
Cheer on the 1,100 runners that will be taking part in the 18km route through the vineyards on May 27. Join them for a celebratory glass of wine (or two or three) at the Party at the Finish Line (free entry, $23 for a wine tasting package), where wineries from the Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association will be on hand with wine tastings and guests can enjoy live music and food trucks at this fun afternoon for all the family.
Relax after the race, or after some serious wine tasting, at Road13 Vineyard’s Recovery BBQ ($40) on Saturday May 27, from 6-9pm; take in the winery’s epic view and enjoy wood-fired pizza from Wine Crush Pizza Wagon. Tickets include pizza, dessert and a glass of wine.
Put on your dancing shoes and head to Tinhorn Creek Vineyards for the Canadian Concert Series – held every month in the stunning natural vineyard amphitheatre. May 27 sees Vancouver-based funk and soul stars The Boom Booms bring a sultry sound to the open-air concert (7.30pm, $30).
The following morning, head to Oliver Twist Estate Winery for a delicious Pancake Breakfast among the vines, with all fund raised going to the NICU at the Kelowna General Hospital. (7-11am, by donation).
