The 2014 Merlots are the product of one of the Okanagan Valley’s greatest vintage years. They combine power, structure, bountiful fruit, spice and elegant tannins.
Our 2014 End Game provides an intense expression of the sun kissed Eastern Benches while 2014 Silent Bishop showcases the complexity the Western Benches can achieve in optimal growing conditions.
The 2014 Opening Gambit offers class and structure synonymous with the Osoyoos Lake Bench while the 2014 Black Rook encompasses floral notes, dark fruits, star anise and spice characteristics associated with Black Sage Bench.
These wines are destined for a long life.
Last week, we received outstanding scores from Wine Spectator – arguably North America’s most influential wine magazine – for our 2014 Chardonnays and 2013 Merlots. Eight wines scored 90 points or higher. This is a great accomplishment for CheckMate and for the BC wine industry as a whole.
We also wish to let you know our 2013 Black Rook Merlot is almost sold out – having received top accolades, a win at the Judgment of BC and a top three showing at Mavericks of Merlot. This will certainly be a flagship vintage wine for years to come, and a great piece of the CheckMate story to have in your cellar.
