Hotel Zed celebrates legalization day with a ‘Weed Walk’ guide and commemorative pins

The hotel proves once again that they are anything but ordinary.

Hotel Zed presents the Highlights of Victoria

Now that the smoke has cleared around legalization, we figured no time like the present to put together a few sugestions for a laid back weed walk. On this Victoria walk (or short drive as it were) you’ll discover a few local dispensaries, great places to cure a bad case of the munchies and perfect spots to press the chill button.

Don’t forget to mosey up to the hotel’s front desk and ask for your FREE Zed Hotel “High Five” commemorative pin.

Trip the Light Fantastic: On the Dispensary Trail

Trees – Island Grown

This artisanal dispensary is located directly behind us on Alpha Street. These folks focus on sourcing high-grade weed products from all over beautiful Vancouver Island.

Gulf Island Organics

This locally owned dispensary is on Fort Street, providing “gulf-grown” organics. A solid walk or a quick car ride to secure supplies BEFORE you get started.

Lotusland Cannabis Club

A quick 8 minute car ride from here. Lotusland is a BC based chain that carries a wide selection of high grade marijuana products.

Top 10 “to-dos” on the Weed Walk

1. Stroll the Galloping Goose Trail which you can access right behind the hotel and follow the trail across a wonderful trestle to Bamfield Park to pause, reflect and view the world at a slower pace.

2. Read. Stop in at our favourite book haunt, Russell Books. Be forewarned, you might not surface for     hours!

  1. Munchies? The Ruby, a New York style rotisserie joint open until 3 pm, is conveniently located in our parking lot!
  2. Thrifting. OMG, do not miss Value Village, it’s huge! And The Patch on Yates Street. Need more? Just ask, there are tons.
  3. Eat. Did I say FOOD TRUCKS? Check them out behind the Royal British Columbian Museum.
  4. Walk. Take a walk on the wild side along Dallas Road, hugging the ocean. Check out Canada’s best off-lead dog park, almost as pet friendly as us!
  5. Meander. Visit the petting zoo and the gorgeous Beacon Hill Park. Look out for the cute baby goats, and keep your eyes peeled for the resident peacocks!
  6. People-watch in Bastion Square or of course the Inner Harbour.
  7. Fill the hunger gap at The Flying Otter, located in the Inner Harbour.
  8. Drink. Wet your whistle at one of the many breweries in town – Phillips, Driftwood, Hoyne and Moon Under Water, just to name a few! Walk along the water to Spinnakers, Canada’s oldest brewpub.

11. Go cheap for some quick grub at El Furniture Warehouse on Yates, where every food item is $5.95 – you heard us.

Hotel Zed presents the Highlights of Kelowna

Now that the smoke has cleared around legalization, we figured no time like the present to put together a few suggestions for a laid-back weed walk. On this walk (or short drive as it were) you’ll discover our one and only dispensary (what’s up with that?) a few of our favourite haunts, great places to cure a bad case of the munchies and perfect spots to press the chill button.

Don’t forget to mosey up to the hotel’s front desk and ask for your FREE Zed Hotel “High Five” commemorative pin.

Our one and only dispensary #sigh

Trichome Valley RX – no website for these guys, they are old school.
You’ll find them at 2009-E Enterprise Way and their phone number is 778.940.0541

Top 10 “to-do” on the Kelowna Weed Walk

1. Chill and stock up. Grab a hot beverage at Kelowna’s own DOJA Culture Café, for organic coffee, fresh eats, local apparel, and top-of-the-line paraphernalia. If you’re looking for a wider selection, Hemp City or Smokanagan both are local favourite for everything weed related (note, these are not dispensaries).

2. Stroll through Kelowna’s City Park just across the street, with its sandy beaches, tennis courts, skateboard park, running track, lawn bowling, playgrounds, sports fields and a biking and pedestrian path along the lake.

3. Read. Stop in at Mosaic Books, the Okanagan’s largest independent bookstore for titles like “The Little Book of Cannabis” or “The Cannabis Business Start-up Guide.”

4. Munchies time? Stop in at Parlour for home-made ice cream made with local ingredients or if you’re feeling like something savoury, stop by DunnEnzies for delicious, retro-style pizza.

  1. Get cultured. Downtown Kelowna is riddled with wineries, breweries and distilleries. Try Tree Brewing, Vice & Virtue Brewing, Sandhill Winery, or Urban Distillery + Winery.
  2. Meander.
  3. Feast your eyes. Explore new concepts in art at the Kelowna Art Gallery.
  4. Still hungry? Try Wasabi Izakaya for life-changing ramen (seriously, you have never had better ramen) or for the best burger in town, try Central Kitchen & Bar.
  5. Drink. Want to up your Instagram game? Visit Ricco Bambino for amazing wine, cocktails and the prettiest backdrops you ever did see.

10. Out on the town. When was the last time you went to a bar with a bowling alley and bocce courts? BNA Brewing not only brews its own beer but has a fun atmosphere. Get there early, as the bowling alleys fill up fast!

Or, go nowhere at all.
