MACHiNENOiSY – new duet WE ARE BY WHICH WE ARE MOVED IN RETURN June 11 -15

MACHiNENOiSY co-presents with SFU Woodward’s Cultural Programs

We are by which we are moved in return

Dancing in the age of the anthropocene part insect, part object, part human, part touch

After the sold-out Fragile Forms at PuSh 2019, MACHiNENOiSY‘s Delia Brett and Daelik create a new work for themselves that reflects their roots in contact dance and interests in materiality and scenographic design. Developed with longtime collaborator, sound artist Chris Kelly and set designer Paula Viitanen.

We are by which we are moved in return seeks to acknowledge the matrix of unseen forces, organic and inorganic, that make us and move us.

Influenced by radical new inquiries in the fields of science, feminism and cultural theory, We are by which we are moved in return considers humanity in the age of the anthropocene and asks: Can we re-vision our relationships to the material world before it’s too late?

MACHiNENOiSY is a contemporary dance company dedicated to creating performance that is trans- disciplinary, collaborative, diverse, and socially relevant. Artistic Directors Delia Brett and Daelik work together as dancers, teachers and creators and are two of the leading dancers/creators of Contact Improvisation in Canada. MACHiNENOiSY’s work has been presented throughout Vancouver and Canada and has toured to Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Greece, Finland and the U.S.

SFU Woodward’s Cultural Programs‘ vision is to enable and promote creativity and leading edge practices in the contemporary arts, supported by arts discourse.
