The November edition of The Dance Centre’s popular Discover Dance! series features the accomplished and entertaining dancers of the Vancouver Tap Dance Society. Introduced by Artistic Director Andrew Nemr, this exhilarating program showcases the infectious rhythms, technical skill and musicality of tap, tracing its vibrant history and its contemporary innovations. The dancers will ‘lay down some iron’ and create a rhythmic conversation full of zest and charm.

The Vancouver Tap Dance Society was founded in 1995. It strives to be an innovative leader in the promotion and preservation of tap dance and is dedicated to developing an awareness of this art form. Activities include a Dance Academy, which trains hundreds of students of all ages; the annual Vancouver International Tap Dance Festival; TapCo, an elite youth tap ensemble; and an outreach program providing classes to children in local schools. The Society is committed to spearheading projects to promote tap dance to the public, including bringing international shows to the Vancouver stage, delivering comprehensive training opportunities for novice to professional dancers, and providing the infrastructure needed to share the art of tap dance with the community.
