The Okanagan’s iconic Summerhill Pyramid Winery is stepping up to help BC’s hospitality charity. The BC Hospitality Foundation (BCHF) is delighted to announce that throughout the month of April 2020, $1 from every bottle of Summerhill Pyramid Winery wine sold at participating retailers will be donated to the BCHF.
“We’re very grateful for the tremendous support we’re receiving from members of the BC wine community,” says Dana Harris, the BCHF’s Executive Director. “The donation by Summerhill Pyramid is a great example of how social isolation may mean we have to stand a few feet apart, but this crisis is paradoxically also helping to bring people together to support the causes they believe in.”
Ezra Cipes of Summerhill Pyramid notes that “We operate according to a vision of gratitude and abundance for people and planet. It’s a difficult time for us and for the whole world. We’re glad to pitch in for our local industry.”
The Okanagan’s Summerhill Pyramid Winery is a family-owned venture that’s known for crafting award-winning wines providing an authentic expression of the unique terroir of their origin. It is operated according to both organic and biodynamic standards. The $1 donation will apply to every bottle of Summerhill Pyramid wine sold at participating retailers until April 30th, including both retail and licensee sales. (The bottles are identified with neck tags; currently retail stores in Vancouver and Kelowna, with more to be added in Victoria.)
Funds raised by the program will help the BCHF continue to provide last-resort assistance for hospitality workers in financial crisis due to a serious health condition. The charity also offers a scholarship program that fosters the next generation of hospitality industry leaders.
