Cloud Kitchen Concept Gives Shout-Out to New Anthem ‘Everyone Can Sing at Christmas’ from Corner Gas Creator Brent Butt and Composer-Musician Craig Northey of the Odds

The chart-topping new ‘cloud kitchen’ take-out concept known as Anthem Pizza is cooking up a new holiday offer that pays tribute to the popular television show Corner Gas Animated and gives a slice of each pie back to a charity benefitting Canadian musicians.

Inspired by a recent announcement from Corner Gas Animated creator and Canadian comedian Brent Butt that revealed the release of a new Christmas anthem co-written and performed by Craig Northey of the Odds called ‘Everyone Can Sing at Christmas’, Anthem is dropping two new pizzas — ‘The Brent’ and ‘The Craig’ — and limited-edition Corner Gas-themed boxes and T-shirts from Anthem’s current artist-in-residence David Bircham in their honour.

‘The Brent’ is an instant classic combining crumbled sausage, spinach, mushroom, garlic and shredded mozza, while ‘The Craig’ lays down a lighter, vegan vibe with toppings that include artichokes, zucchini, red peppers, black olives, red onions, dairy-free pesto, vegan cheese, and dukkah spice. Both of the tribute pizzas ($24) and the limited-edition T-shirts — which are available for $25 each plus tax and shipping or local delivery in Corner Gasboxes via anthempizza.ca/shop —are only available on the Anthem menu for a limited time until Saturday, December 26.

In keeping with Anthem’s ongoing pledge to pay it forward by donating to worthy causes in the community, 10 per cent of proceeds from the sale of each Corner Gas Animated-edition pizza and T-shirt will be donated to the Unison Benevolent Fund, which helps Canadian musicians in times of hardship, illness or economic difficulties by providing counselling and emergency relief services.

Butt and Northey, both of whom proudly call Vancouver home, are longtime Corner Gascollaborators and co-conspirators. Northey wrote and performed the original opening theme (‘Not a Lot Goin’ On’) to both the original live-action sitcom that ran from 2004-’09 and the more recent animated revival with Jesse Valenzuela of the Gin Blossoms, while Northey’s band the Odds also supplied the closing theme ‘My Happy Place’ for both shows.

“What better way to immortalize these two Canadian rock stars than by naming a couple pizzas in their honour and donating proceeds to a cause that does so much good for Canadian musicians?” says Anthem founder Matt Thompson. “If we can get a hold of them, I pledge to personally deliver some free Brent and Craig pizzas straight to them this weekend — no strings attached. Only masks.”
