Our recommendations:
2019 Pinot Gris
Peach, pear and carmelized apricots. Bright acidity
Blend of 3x Okanagan Vineyards. Clones – Unknown.
East Kelowna. (Harvested 3rd Oct.)
Kelowna. (Harvested 14th Oct).
Naramata. (Harvested 10th Oct.)
All three parcels were whole bunch pressed and fermented separately. with a three week long ferment. They were then held on fermentation lees for eight months. Blended together in May before being filtered and bottled. 10% of the overall blend went into neutral oak.
Nose has peach, pear and caramelized apricots. Palatte shows off an array of stone fruit and citrus fruit along with some creamy characters. The acid is straight and racey. An underlying sense of flinty/gunsmoke beneath the fruit gives this wine an added element of complexity.
2020 Gewurztraminer
Lychee. Tropical. Spice
TASTING NOTES
This Gewurztraminer is subtle, yet fresh. On the palate, it showcases floral elements and natural acids with and array of flavours that range from orchard fruit to tropical fruits with a fine padding of creamy marmite lees and Caribbean based spices to round out the finish. This wine is bone dry, yet weighty and textured.
PAIRS WELL WITH: Take out sushi in the park!
THE VINTAGE
After a nice cool winter, followed a bit of a challenging spring/early summer, where fruit set was not even throughout, 2020 pulled through to be one of our favourite vintages! Mid-season was not overly hot, allowing the fruit to retain its natural acidity without the sugar content getting too far ahead. Small, clean, concentrated berries resulted. The end of the season, the nights started to become cool allowing good fruit and phenolic development alongside the retention of natural acid.
2019 Fortified Gewurztraminer
Nutty caramel, ginger and cinnamon, tropical notes
Picked at 24 brix on October 13, 2018 from Cellarsbend Vineyard in Naramata. The grapes were whole bunch pressed and fermented down to 19 brix before being fortified with 93% alcohol. This was then put to barrel and spent twenty months aging in barrel, including one summer spent outside in the heat oxidizing and concentrating all complexities and flavours. It was removed from barrel, sterile filtered and bottled in June 2020.
On the nose there are nutty caramel note with an underlying candied fruit. On the palate again you’ll find candied fruit, ginger and cinnamon along with tropical undertones.

– THE MAYHEM CREW
Sister Terry and brother JAK have been involved in each other’s lives for all their life. Why not spill over into business? And this time they dragged their spouses, Andrew Stone and Janice Stevens along with them. If that’s not a recipe for Mayhem, we don’t know what is!
