About Niche Wine Company
Niche Wine Co. is a family-owned and operated winery producing small-batch wines in West Kelowna, British Columbia. The quality of these wines is no accident. Co-founders Joanna and James Schlosser take care in producing a home-grown, handcrafted lineup of wines that sells out vintage-over-vintage and consistently win awards on a national and international stage.
These wines are produced almost exclusively from estate fruit grown in the hills of West Kelowna. The vineyard sits at an elevation of 620 meters and when it comes to growing Pinot, elevation is key. The Vineyard site is the right balance of hot summer days and cool nights making it prime Pinot growing country. The cool climate, limited access to water, and gravel-like soil conspire to stress the vines in all the right ways.
The vineyard is home to approximately 7 planted acres of Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir and Foch. The Vineyard is also home to Twenty-five laying chickens and one very rumbustious and lovable Labrador.
For the first time in over 10 years, Niche will be opening its farm gates to host visitors for the season. You can count on farm-fresh wines, outside times, and million-dollar views.

About the Founders
Meet James. James Schlosser is the Co-Founder and Winemaker for Niche. He is also a Master of Science, Hugh’s Dad, with a serious passion for farming. When he’s not pressing grapes, bottling wine or power washing, you can usually find him drinking all the Pinot noir or building something with LEGO.
James received his Masters degree in Oenology and Viticulture from Brock University in Niagara. This, followed by another 15 years of winemaking experience has taught James that although it’s important to be attentive throughout the process, ultimately wine is an expression of the things you can’t control
Meet Joanna. Joanna Schlosser is the Co-Founder and CEO for Niche. She is also a Creative Director, Hugh’s Mom, and an avid wine enthusiast. Brand building, content strategy, and wine Pinot are probably her three favourite things to do but she is also a big fan of reading books, building community, and a good late-night Instagram scroll.
