The Campbell Valley Wine Run Returns, September 25
The 9th-annual charitable event features a “fun run and ride,” wine tastings, live music and much more
After a two-year hiatus, one of the most popular events in the Township of Langley’s autumn social calendar will soon be making its return.
The 9th annual Campbell Valley Wine Run & Ride – in support of Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities (PRDA) – takes place Sunday, September 25.
All proceeds from this costumed “fun run and ride” event will go to PRDA, which has been providing equestrian therapy programs for adults and children in Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley communities for more than 40 years.
The Wine Run begins and finishes at PRDA’s homebase at 1088 – 208th Street in Langley. Following a pre-run toast, the event kicks off at 9am, with costumed fun-runners making their way along the 10km route, including the scenic trails of Campbell Valley Park, as well as stopping for tastings at award-winning local wineries Township 7 Vineyards & Winery, Chaberton Estate Winery and Vista D’oro Farms & Winery.
After finishing the route and returning to PRDA headquarters, runners will celebrate with a complimentary charcuterie box by Salt & Thyme and their beverage of choice from the sponsoring wineries or on-tap beer provided by the IRL Group.
In addition to sips and snacks, attendees can look forward to live music courtesy of Brock Phillips Music, plus a hounds demonstration from the Fraser Valley Hounds Society (FVHS). As well, prizes will be awarded for best team and individual costumes, thanks to sponsors RBC Royal Bank and Fraserway RV in Abbotsford. (Other sponsors who make this event possible include TEEMA and Michael Elliott Law Corporation / Rice Harbut Elliott.)
New this year: Thanks to the partnership of the FVHS, Wine Run participants now have the option to horseback ride instead of run. Riders will join the FVHS’s 3rd Annual Charity Hunt at 11am, starting at Histed Farm, and then join the Wine Run after-party before heading out for the hunt ride through Campbell Valley Park.
“The Campbell Valley Wine Run started out as a relatively small ‘fun run’ and has grown substantially over the years to become Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities’ largest annual fundraiser,” says PRDA Executive Director Michelle Ingall. “PRDA would like to thank the wineries for their continued support, as well as all our sponsors and volunteers for helping make this event something our runners look forward to year after year.”
