Glenfiddich transports to an orchard on a warm autumn day with the release of the fifth and newest evolution of The Experimental Series: Orchard Experiment.

Glenfiddich, the world’s most-awarded single malt scotch whisky,continues to pioneer the single malt Scotch whisky category with its fifth release of The Experimental Series, Orchard Experiment, marking the first time a Scotch Whisky has been finished in Somerset Pomona Spirit Casks.

Boasting notes of fresh pear and ripe orchard, Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment’s golden-hued liquid is rich with crisp orchard fruit flavours that are attributed to the four-month finishing period of Glenfiddich in sweet Somerset Pomona Spirit Casks.

“Over the past few years, we have had the opportunity to explore new sources for casks and I was intrigued by the possibility of using Somerset Pomona Spirit Casks to enhance and elevate the core Glenfiddich character of apples and pears,” comments Brian Kinsman, Glenfiddich’s Malt Master.“I am delighted with the end result and I think we have created a beautiful expression of Glenfiddich that is true to our DNA with just a hint of autumnal Somerset sunsets –truly an Orchard Experiment!”

Evoking Fall days on orchards rich with fruit, Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment is created in collaboration with the multi-talented maverick Temperley family, founders and owners of the Somerset Brandy Cider Company, UK.Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment also marks the first time the iconic Glenfiddich and Somerset Cider Brandy Company have collaborated.

“Working with the Temperleys has been great fun as they share the same core values so common in family business,” adds Kinsman.

Somerset Pomona is a spirit made from a secret blend of juice and Somerset Cider Brandy, which are then married to mature in oak barrels for an additional two years.The finished spirit is an exquisite apple spirit which graces the tables of top-ranked restaurants throughout the world. It is these casks which were used to maturethe Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment, the latest innovation to join The Experimental Series of the world’s most awarded scotch whisky.

Since its initial launch in 2016, The Experimental Series was designed to challenge and push the conventions of the whisky industry, continually redefining the single malt scotch category and beyond. It is this passion for innovation that paved the way for the remarkable partnership with like-minded visionaries, the Temperley family, who share the same entrepreneurial spirit.

“Glenfiddich continues to challenge traditions, explore new flavours and embark on entrepreneurial collaborations in ways other single malts can’t,” comments Jamie Johnson, Glenfiddich’s National Brand Ambassador in Canada. “Orchard Experiment is the newest innovation, a truly unique liquid that can be enjoyed straight up, on ice or in a signature cocktail like The Temperley or The Apple Orchard.”

The Orchard Experiment marks the fifth expression of The Experimental Series lineup, following its prior releases: IPA Experiment (2016), Project XX (2016), Winter Storm (2017), and Fire & Cane (2018).

Orchard Experiment is bottled at 43% ABV.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: A classic Glenfiddich with a wonderfully fresh pear fruitiness balanced with delicate oak notes.

Taste: An initial burst of ripe orchard fruits on the palate softens and develops into sweet creamy toffee, caramelized apple,and woody spice.

Finish: Long lasting sweetness.

SUGGESTED COCKTAILS

The Temperley A more sophisticated serve named after the Temperley family, the maverick makers of Somerset Pomona.

50ml Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment

10ml Manzilla sherry

20ml sweet vermouth

10ml Somerset Pomona

1.25ml sugar syrup

Add ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir. Once chilled, strain into a chilled coupette glass. Garnish with a green olive.

The Apple Orchard A beautifully simple, delicious, and refreshing signature serve.

50ml Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment

150ml fresh apple juice

Add to a tumbler filled with ice and stir.

Garnish with an apple fan and mint leaves (clap them to release the flavour).
