Blue Grouse Estate Winery Supports Nourish Cowichan for BC Wine Month

One Dollar from Every Bottle of Blue Grouse Sold in April will be Donated to Combat Hunger

Blue Grouse Estate Winery and Vineyard announced today that $1 from every bottle of Blue Grouse wine sold anywhere in British Columbia in April will be donated to Nourish Cowichan, marking the winery’s fourth consecutive year of participating in the local charity whose mission is to feed hungry children.

April is BC Wine Month, which is the perfect time to support local charities by giving back some of the wine proceeds to raise awareness for Nourish Cowichan, a non-profit that’s so deeply rooted in the Cowichan Valley community.

Giving back to the local community is such an important ethos to the Jackson family’s culture. The family has been a long-time supporter of their local communities for decades. Each year, Jackson Family Wines contributes thousands of hours of volunteer time, financial support, and in-kind donations to more than 200+ nonprofit organizations throughout their wine communities and beyond. Over the past year, staff volunteered nearly 6,000 hours to make a difference in the local communities. Many of these efforts have supported food related charities like local food banks, community gardens, and non-profits that aim to end food insecurities. As Blue Grouse Estate Winery participates in Nourish Cowichan for the fourth year, the Jackson family is looking forward to continuing the great charitable efforts that the winery team has established.

It might be hard to believe, but the Cowichan Valley is one of British Columbia’s regions with the highest child poverty rate. Nourish Cowichan is currently supporting over 1,200 students in 21 schools in the SD79. Their program provides students with breakfast, lunch and snacks as well as weekend grocery bags. Nourish Cowichan has also been providing food support to families that are going through financial insecurity.

To support this great cause, customers may purchase wines at the Blue Grouse Estate winery, through the Blue Grouse online store, or by using the locater tool to find Blue Grouse wines at their favourite restaurants and retailers. In addition, anyone wishing to contribute monetary donations to the campaign may do so here.

About Nourish Cowichan
We have a strong belief in equity and community. Nourish Cowichan has been built from a place of love and an entire community coming together to care for its school children. We approach our work with the knowledge that there is much to be done to ensure that every child should be given the opportunity to succeed. We believe that it is our responsibility as a community to take care of our most vulnerable children. Canada still remains the only G7 nation without a national school food program. Feeding children should not be addressed as a privilege, every child has a right to adequate nutritious food to enable a healthy life and support them to do better in school.
