Uppercase Winery Opens Okanagan Falls Tasting Room

Uppercase Winery, a rising star of the South Okanagan, is thrilled to announce the opening of their new tasting room in Okanagan Falls. Nestled against the rolling Okanagan Foothills overlooking Skaha Lake, Uppercase invites guests to visit the estate to learn about the time-honoured tradition behind each of their handcrafted wines.

Earlier this year, Uppercase Winery took stewardship of the 75-year-old Matheson Creek Farm on Eastside Road. They continue the legacy of the Sloan family, who nurtured a deep connection between the farm and the community, transforming the estate into a cherished destination for both locals and tourists alike.

The historic farmhouse of Matheson Creek has been transitioned into a charming tasting room that offers a panoramic view of Skaha Lake. Guests can soak in the peaceful surroundings as they discover the Uppercase wine portfolio, or retreat to the picturesque lakeview terrace for a picnic with a bottle of wine.

“We still have a few finishing touches in the works, but with the beautiful weather we’ve been having, we couldn’t wait any longer to open our doors and welcome you all in. We encourage everyone to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it with a bottle of wine on our terrace that overlooks Skaha Lake – the perfect backdrop for an indulgent afternoon or carefree happy hour,” said Levi Gogolinski, Director of Marketing for Uppercase Winery.

With a deep-rooted commitment to sustainability and innovation, the new plantings at Matheson Creek embrace Italian grape varieties that the team, led by consulting winemaker and viticulturist Pascal Madevon, believe are suitable for the emerging climatic conditions of the Okanagan Valley. Uppercase Winery will proudly be the first to plant Pecorino, a white grape commonly found along Italy’s east coast, in North America. Teroldego, a red grape variety native to Italy’s Trentino area, and Vermentino, a heat-loving white grape variety common in Italy and Southern France, will also be planted.

Although the property is still in transformation, with vineyard planting now underway, a team of knowledgeable hospitality staff stand ready to cater to discerning wine enthusiasts at the tasting room. The winery is open for tastings from 11:30am to 5:30pm, seven days a week, at 19 Eastside Rd, Okanagan Falls. No reservations are required.

“We want every customer to leave with a feeling of contentment and relaxation, rejuvenated by the casual atmosphere and stunning views. We hope our warmth and hospitality will leave a lasting impression with both new acquaintances and old friends,” said Levi.

Drawing inspiration from the traditional art of typography, Uppercase Winery presents a carefully curated selection of varietal wines and blends – including top wines like Foundry – that showcase the rich diversity of the South Okanagan. 90+ point wines to try in the tasting room this summer include:

  • 2021 Pinot Gris – 90 points, Christopher Waters (Globe & Mail) – $24.99
