Latincouver Presents Carnavalito on the Road – A Travelling Celebration of Latin American Culture
Free public event brings Latin American rhythms, dance, food, and cultural traditions to Langley’s Douglas Park on September 7
Latincouver, a non-profit organization that unites Latin Americans and Latin enthusiasts in British Columbia, proudly announces the launch of Carnavalito on the Road. This free-to-attend cultural festival will be hosted at Douglas Park in Langley on Saturday, September 7.
The high-spirited event will capture the flavours and energy of Latincouver’s annual Carnaval del Sol, offering a vibrant celebration of Latin American cultures with live music, dance performances, food and drink, games and activities for all ages to enjoy.
Carnavalito on the Road will feature over 50 artists and 40 food, business and market vendors across 6 plazas, plus a number of immersive activities that the whole family will love.
Event Highlights:
- Live Performances: Talented local and international Latin American artists will take the stage at the Main Plaza to deliver captivating performances that are sure to have everyone up on their feet dancing. From folklore and salsa dance performances by México Vivo, to spellbinding Afro-Cuban beats by Kutapira, the dynamic lineup will enchant audience members of all ages. Also enjoy performances by Meni Axe Band, Grupo RM, Abraxas-Tributo a Santana, Los Duendes, Tren al Sur, and Rumba 7.
- Kid-Friendly Activities: At the Kids & Family Plaza, children will be treated to face painting, Spanish storytelling, a sand art workshop, and more, to encourage creativity, imagination, and connection to culture.
- Authentic Cuisine: A foodie’s paradise, the Food Plaza will offer guests a taste of traditional and contemporary Latin American dishes, and will feature 10 food vendors including Mucho Burrito and La Taquería.
- Festival Libations: At the Beer Plaza, a section of the festival reserved for adults 19+, a selection of beer and seltzers will be served while DJ Tee spins infectious beats to keep the party alive.
- Community Building: A place to feel united and supported, the Community Plaza will offer temporary foreign workers a space to connect with their community and learn about the rules and experiences of living and working in British Columbia.
“The spirit and energy of Carnaval del Sol is coming to the Fraser Valley with the launch of Carnavalito on the Road,” says Latincouver’s Executive Director, Paola Murillo. “We are proud of our Latin American heritage, and treasure this opportunity to share this free cultural celebration with the community.”
