Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Moon Curser Wines

Wines are diverse and exciting, a lot like the early days of romance. Whether you are in the early stages of a relationship when you get to know each other, or yours is a lasting union, exploring your love of wine together adds that little bit of extra romance to your Valentine’s Day.

Romance, a feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love.

Moon Curser Eclipse 2021

We chose Moon Curser Eclipse 2021 for Romance because it is hard to beat a romantic night sharing a bottle of sparkling wine with the one you love. Sparkling Roussanne Marsanne blend. Traditional Method. Need we say more?

Tasting Notes

This is the sophomore release of Moon Curser’s Eclipse, a sparkling Roussanne and Marsanne blend made in the Traditional Method. This intriguing blend has a beautiful pale gold colour in the glass. The nose hints at the complexity of this fine wine – the magic of the Traditional Method lies in the development of the complex aromas of brioche, banana cream pie, meringue and nectarine. On the palate, this medium-bodied dry (Brut) sparkling wine displays a well-balanced structure with a flavourful palate of cinnamon, quince, orange peel and marzipan. The long-lasting finish and fine mousse create the ‘one more glass, please!’ effect. This is a wine that can either be enjoyed purely on its own, or with a wide array of different foods: anything from fresh oysters with lemon, a linguine with clams and fennel, to an elevated creamy macaroni and cheese with chorizo will be a pleasing pairing. Sparkling wine has typically been seen as only a celebration wine, but we encourage you to find something to celebrate every day, and enjoy the wine. We do expect this wine to continue developing very nicely in bottle through to 2030.

Once you’ve passed the early stages of a relationship, when you’ve gotten to know each other, exploring your love of wine together
may add a spark to your Passion for Valentine’s Day.

Moon Curser Petit Verdot 2021

We’ve selected our Moon Curser Petit Verdot 2021 for Passion because at Moon Curser we are passionate about old-world grape varieties not previously planted in the Okanagan. Petit Verdot is one of the many unique varieties we grow here on the Osoyoos East Bench. ‘Tis a rare thing to see this grape on its own, but when it happens, it can be a thing of beauty. An elegant and powerful expression of this intriguing Bordeaux variety.

Tasting Notes

This single vineyard Petit Verdot from our Moon Curser Vineyard is a perfect example of Okanagan Petit Verdot. The 2021 vintage is full-bodied with a deep ruby colouring and inviting notes of cinnamon, rose petals, tobacco leaf and stewed cherry on the nose. The palate is ripe with notes complementing the nose; baking spices, cooked blackberry, walnut and chalk. The elements of oak aging are artfully woven throughout to provide rich tones of dark chocolate and cigar on the edges of the palate. The palate is rich with tannins and a fresh acidity that lengthens out the finish. This is an elegant and tannin driven wine. While fairly approachable now, this wine will definitely reward those who can set the bottle aside for several years. The wine will start to reveal its true potential by 2027, with beneficial aging continuing until at least 2033. Pairs beautifully with roasted pork, aged and smoked cheeses, and grilled tri-tip steak.

A quintessential varietal Petit Verdot – dark purple in the glass, and all about lilac, dark fruit, graphite and cedar shavings. You will not be able to walk away.

What can you say about love that hasn’t already been said many times over? Love is constant and nourishing, very much like wine. This Valentines share a glass of wine with someone you love.

Love, an intense feeling of deep affection.

Moon Curser Roussanne Marsanne 2022

We’ve selected our Moon Curser Roussanne Marsanne 2022 for Love because it is a blend of grape varieties that love being together. A classic Rhône Valley combination of Roussanne and Marsanne grown and made on the Osoyoos East Bench. Floral and apple notes with a kiss of oak; elegant and graceful.

Tasting Notes
Our Roussanne Marsanne blend is a dry, medium-bodied white wine with a beautiful pale straw-yellow colour. The nose jumps out of the glass with notes of orange blossom, cantaloupe, quince and nutmeg. The palate follows with flavours of lemon meringue, granny smith apple, cinnamon and a refreshing minerality. A portion of this wine spent four months in oak with lees stirring, and the resulting richness adds an intriguing dimension of toast and baked apples. This is an elegant and graceful wine, with a smooth acid profile that allows its brightness and freshness to serve as a welcomed counterweight to the rich brioche notes. Aging will allow for the development of the fantastic secondary flavour characteristics typical of the Marsanne grape – look for marzipan, honey and caramel if you are able to set the wine down for three to four years. This wine drinks well now, but will benefit those willing to wait till 2027 or so before opening. Pair this wine with all types of seafood, foie gras, or asparagus gratin for a wonderful culinary experience.
