ABOUT THIS VISA INFINITE DINING SERIES EXPERIENCE
Two of Vancouver’s most engaging and experienced wine educators will lead this exciting “Back to Wine School” dinner at Vancouver’s beloved Café Medina. Between them, Jenna Briscoe and Kelcie Jones have barrels of certifications and accolades. Briscoe is, among other things, the GM at Medina, while Jones is the Wine Director at Burdock & Co. and the Michelin Guide Vancouver 2023 Sommelier of the Year; both are Co-Owners in This Is Wine School. They will guide guests on a fabulous flavour journey through unique, interesting wine varieties and regions, all while guests enjoy multiple wine pairings throughout each dinner course of Chef Christopher West’s locally inspired, Middle Eastern-influenced dishes alongside guest Chef Tret Jordan’s regionally focussed fare.
ABOUT THIS IS WINE SCHOOL
Jenna Briscoe is a wine educator, judge, and the General Manager of Café Medina. She has successfully completed the Wine & Spirits Education Trust Diploma, teaches about wine at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, is a Co-Owner of This Is Wine School, and directs the seminars at Top Drop Canada, a terroir-focused wine festival. She is a VinItaly International Italian Wine Ambassador and an international wine judge for competitions such as 5 Star Wines and Wine Align’s National Wine Awards of Canada. Kelcie Jones is the Wine Director at the one-Michelin-starred Burdock & Co., and the winner of both the Michelin Guide Vancouver 2023 Sommelier of the Year Award and the 2023 Best Sommelier in BC. She holds the WSET Diploma and 3iC Italian wine certificate, and is a stage two student with the Institute of Masters of Wine. She is also Co-Owner of This Is Wine School and a BC Wine Ambassador facilitator.
ABOUT CAFÉ MEDINA
Café Medina is a purveyor of fine Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, connoisseur-savvy coffee, and the city’s best Belgian waffles. Owner Robbie Kane’s philosophy of enlightened hospitality is a major reason why this restaurant has become Vancouver’s favourite brunch spot. It was a concept he developed while managing the front of house at Chambar, before opening Medina in 2008. Since then, Medina has moved from its original Beatty Street location to the Library District and has become a cult favourite brunch destination, with guests lining up, sometimes for hours, for the short rib fricassée and spicy Moroccan lamb boulettes, as well as an exceptional wine, beer, cocktail, and coffee program.
ABOUT TRET JORDAN
At a young age, Tret Jordan developed a passion for how food is grown, harvested, and preserved while growing up on his family farm in the Fraser Valley. He honed his culinary skills in many Vancouver restaurants like Raincity Grill, Bacchus (Wedgewood Hotel), and Elixir Bistro (Opus Hotel). He went on to work at many world-class Michelin-starred restaurants in London, England, including Claridge’s Hotel, Putney Bridge, and Pied-a-Terre, and also cooked at the ultrachic Whist Restaurant in Santa Monica’s Viceroy Hotel. In 2008, Tret joined the Wentworth Hospitality Group as part of the executive team, and as Executive Chef, he played an integral role in the inspiration behind the kitchens and menus at Loden Hotel, Tableau Bar Bistro, Homer Street Cafe and Bar, and Musette Café.
