DELUXE & GINGER
Canadian whisky and ginger ale is a classic pairing — but why? Because the sharp bite of ginger adds something to the spicy oak and caramel of a great Canadian whisky like J.P. Wiser’s Deluxe.

A Deluxe and Ginger is a versatile drink suitable for lots of different occasions; it especially shines as a thirst-quencher on hot days and with spicy dishes.

 

INGREDIENTS
J.P. Wiser’s Deluxe 2 oz.
ginger ale 5 oz.
lime wedge for garnish 1
ice cubes 5

INSTRUCTIONS
Add ice to your glass, then whisky, then ginger ale.
Stir very gently to mix the ingredients together (being careful not to spill).
Drop lime wedge into the glass or attach it to the rim.

VARIATIONS & TIPS
Try not to skip the lime wedge: A dose of sourness helps balance the overall flavour of the drink (and a squeeze of citrus makes it extra refreshing).
Experiment with different ginger ales to see which one you enjoy most when paired with J.P. Wiser’s Canadian whisky.
For a slightly sweeter, mellower whisky and ginger, use J.P. Wiser’s Special Blend as your whisky.

WHISKY MULE
The Whisky Mule takes the classic flavour pairing of whisky and ginger and kicks it up a few notches thanks to the powerful punch of ginger beer.
Whisky Mules make a great drink for get-togethers at home: They’re simple to prepare, but can be impressive to look at.

There’s probably no better cocktail to pair with spicy foods, from curries to hot wings.

INGREDIENTS
J.P. Wiser’s Deluxe 1.5 oz.
Lime Juice 0.5 oz.
Ginger beer 5 oz.
Lime wedge for garnish 1
Ice cubes 4-5

INSTRUCTIONS
Combine all ingredients in a highball glass or julep cup and stir (gently, to avoid spilling).
Add garnish (and optional straw[s]) and serve.

VARIATIONS & TIPS
Copper mule mugs are not necessary, but they’re a nice touch — especially when you watch the condensation drip down the sides of a refreshing mule on a hot summer day. They’ available from specialty cocktail supply stores.
Other nice touches: crushed ice and a fresh mint sprig as an additional garnish.
For a sweeter, creamier Whisky Mule, use J.P. Wiser’s Vanilla Canadian Whisky instead of J.P. Wiser’s Deluxe.
Ginger beer is sometimes labelled as “golden (ginger) ale” at supermarkets in Atlantic Canada.

J.P. Wiser’s 10 Year Old Canadian Whisky 1.5 oz.
Cola 5 oz.
Lime wedge for garnish 1
Ice cubes 5

INSTRUCTIONS
Add ice to your glass, then whisky, then cola.
Stir very gently to mix the ingredients together (being careful not to spill).
Drop lime wedge into the glass or attach it to the rim.

VARIATIONS & TIPS
Experiment with different colas to see what you enjoy most. Some people swear by colas with cane sugar; they’re robust enough to go toe-to-toe with whisky.
If you enjoy vanilla cola, why not fix yourself a version with vanilla whisky — namely, J.P. Wiser’s Vanilla Canadian Whisky?
