Another Reason to Visit: Garnet Valley Ranch Launches
Orchard + Field, a Low-Alcohol Apple & Berry Wine Inspired by Biodiversity and Resilience
Garnet Valley Ranch (GVR), the pioneering regeneratively farmed high-altitude vineyard and farm in the heart of Summerland, continues to redefine what it means to grow with intention. The latest chapter in this story: Orchard + Field, a low-alcohol, lightly sparkling apple and berry wine that is as refreshing in taste as it is in purpose.
Created by renowned winemaker Matt Dumayne and winery founder Christine Coletta, Orchard + Field is the result of more than a year of formulation and taste testing. The resulting beverage blends the natural sweetness of heritage apples with the tangy lift of Okanagan-grown berries. Crisp, clean, and subtly sparkling, it’s an ideal choice for those seeking low-alcohol, low-sugar alternatives with all the flavour and none of the compromise.

Resealable glass bottles make it easy to enjoy by the glass, and offer versatility and freshness. “During our testing phase, we were delighted to discover that the gentle carbonation holds for several days,” said Coletta. “That makes Orchard + Field perfect for those who want a single serving without compromise.”
The idea for Orchard + Field was inspired by one of the toughest years in BC wine history. While after the extreme cold events of January 2024 when many BC wineries took advantage of a temporary exemption allowing imports to stabilize production, Coletta and her team chose a different path. Coletta and the GVR team made a conscious choice not to rely on imported wine, but to deepen their connection to the land and diversify sustainably.
“Rather than introduce a one-time product, we focused on creating something that we can build on well into the future,” said Coletta. “Orchard + Field is made with natural, Okanagan-grown ingredients and speaks to the values our customers care about—authenticity, sustainability, and wellness.”
To support this long-term vision, Garnet Valley Ranch expanded its commitment to biodiversity and the team planted two acres of heritage apple trees and two acres of Haskap berry shrubs, adding to the rich mosaic of crops that already includes vineyards, lavender fields, vegetables, and more. It’s another tangible step in building a biodiverse, resilient farm system, and another reason to believe in the GVR project.
“This is more than a product launch,” says Coletta. “It’s a signal of where we’re headed, and an invitation for people to come experience that for themselves.”
