Celebrating World Paella Day at Honey Salt

Honey Salt hosted a summer send off to cap off their Paella & Pintxos Menu
on World Paella Day Saturday, September 20th,

What a send off it was! An excited and hungry group of food writers came together last Saturday night to enjoy and celebrate World Paella Day on the covered, and heated, patio at Honey Salt in the Parq Casino at 39 Smithe Street in Vancouver.

It was a fun evening of Paella and Pintxos from the Tapas & Pintxos menu starting off with a choice of red or rosé Sangria.

What a delicious way to start the evening. Each Sangria was flavourful and very refreshing. I enjoyed the Rosé Sangria and hubby chose the bolder Red Sangria.

While we waiting for the main event we were rewarded for our patience with delicious Tapas and Pintxos starting with Warm Olives, Jamón & Eggs and Pan Con Tomate.

Warm Olives

lemon & rosemary

Pan Con Tomate

toasted bread, fresh tomato, olive oil,
sea salt

Jamón & Eggs

deviled style, serrano ham, smoked paprika

Perhaps you might be thinking there just could not be anything else coming, it must be time for the grand finale. But you would be mistaken there were more delicious Tapas & Pintxos to come.

Patatas Bravas

smoke paprika & garlic aioli

The excitement was growing, when would the grand finale appear? Not yet, just one more traditional dish to try before the reveal of the Paella.

Tortilla de Patatas

potatoes, onion, eggs, sea salt, and oil

Everything was so good and we were starting to get a little anxious about the star of the evening but Honey Salt Chef  Johann Caner did not disappoint. Now it was finally time for the grand finale.

Paella

chicken thigh, shrimp, mussels, bomba rice
saffron, english peas, green beans

Valenciana

bomba rice, green beans, broad beans, tomato, chorizo

See the big reveal video here.
