FROM WASTE TO TASTE: REWILD WINES REIMAGINES SUMMER SANGRIAS TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABILITY AND REDUCE FOOD WASTE
This summer, Rewild Wines celebrates seasonal flavours with sangria recipes that transform overripe fruit into vibrant, fruit-forward wine serves, highlighting how simple choices at home can help reduce food waste.
As warm weather sets in across Canada, entertaining with fruit-filled wines and sangrias continues to trend across summer menus and social gatherings. From backyard barbecues to patio dinners and casual get-togethers, adding fresh produce has become a popular way to enjoy wine across seasons. This summer, Rewild Wines leads with a sustainable approach, encouraging Canadians to repurpose overripe fruit into refreshing sangrias that both bring delicious flavour and reduce food waste.
Born in Australia’s Southern Murray Darling region, Rewild Wines is grounded in regenerative farming practices that support long-term environmental health. Across its vineyards, the brand focuses on soil regeneration, water conservation and biodiversity protection, helping to create a more balanced and resilient ecosystem. This commitment extends throughout every stage of production, with ongoing investments in renewable energy, water recycling systems and more sustainable packaging, including lightweight glass bottles, recycled materials and responsibly sourced cartons, all contributing to a continued effort to reduce environmental impact at every stage.
The popularity of adding jalapenos, mangoes and other fruits reflects a growing preference for approachable, flavour-led ways to enjoy wine throughout the year. Summer brings an abundance of seasonal produce from stone fruit to berries and beyond, and as this fruit passes its peak it becomes ultra-ripe, extra juicy, and naturally sweet. Rather than discarding produce that’s past its prime, Canadians repurpose their sun-drenched, flavour-packed fruit in refreshing sangrias crafted with Rewild Wines, offering a simple and seasonal way to elevate summer entertaining.
This summer, Rewild is highlighting two seasonal sangria recipes designed to make use of overripe fruit in a simple and familiar way, offering an easy option for warm-weather entertaining that promotes waste reduction:
REWILD CABERNET SAUVIGNON SANGRIA

A bold, fruit-forward sangria that brings together rich red wine with citrus and ripe summer fruit. The overripe berries add natural sweetness and depth, while a splash of ginger ale lifts the finish for a refreshing, easy drinking serve perfect for summer gatherings.
Ingredients:
- 1 bottle Rewild Wines Cabernet Sauvignon
- 1/4 cup orange liqueur
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 2–3 tablespoons maple syrup (to taste)
- 2 cups overripe strawberries, blackberries, cherries and apple
- Ginger ale, to top
In a large pitcher, combine Rewild Wines Cabernet Sauvignon, orange liqueur, orange juice and maple syrup. Stir well to combine. Add overripe fruit and gently mix. Chill for at least 1–2 hours to allow flavours to develop. Top with ginger ale just before serving.
REWILD PINOT GRIGIO SANGRIA

Light, crisp and aromatic, this white sangria highlights the delicate character of Pinot Grigio, enhanced with floral elderflower notes and juicy overripe stone fruit. Fresh mint and sparkling club soda bring brightness and lift, making it a refreshing serve for warm summer days.
Ingredients:
- 1 bottle Rewild Wines Pinot Grigio
- 1/4 cup elderflower liqueur
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 cups overripe peach slices, raspberries and fresh mint
- Club soda, to top
In a large pitcher, combine Rewild Wines Pinot Grigio, elderflower liqueur and sugar. Stir until dissolved. Add overripe peaches, raspberries and mint, and mix gently. Chill for 1–2 hours. Top with club soda before serving.
For Rewild, this simple approach to using overripe fruit aligns with a broader commitment to sustainability across every part of its production, rooted in regeneration. The brand focuses on farming and winemaking practices that support healthier soils, improved biodiversity and reduced environmental impact, with a philosophy that extends naturally to how its wines can be enjoyed at home.
Rewild is currently available in select provinces across Canada, including British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and select Atlantic provinces. For specific availability, please contact your local retailer.
