Iconic Vancouver Island hotel gets new life under Catalog Hospitality

A New Chapter on the Sea:

Iconic Hotel, Sooke Harbour House, Reimagines
Vancouver Island Retreats

Backed by Catalog Hospitality Group, the legendary Vancouver Island property
unveils a bold vision that blends heritage, community,
and a renewed local dining experience.

Sooke Harbour House, one of Vancouver Island’s most recognized oceanfront destinations,
enters new ownership under Catalog Hospitality in partnership with Krystal Growth Partners. Known for revitalizing local heritage and landmark properties with a community-first approach, the group has begun reimagining the boutique retreat with a renewed guest experience and European feel.

A Year-Round Destination for Coastal Retreats

Sooke Harbour House ushers in an exciting new chapter on the sea as a world-class four-season retreat. With morning fog that hovers lightly above the water, stretching tides, and awe-inspiring storm days that rival any destination on the island, the property is a gem of the Sooke community, beloved by locals and international travellers alike.

The hotel features 30 unique guest rooms, 28 boasting oceanfront views, drawing inspiration from European manor houses. The property features heritage design including original stained glass insets, hand-painted sinks, original wood work and even a stained glass shower. The original designs are accompanied by contemporary upgrades and plush hotel amenities, including
shower products made from locally harvested seaweed.

“The utmost thought has been put into preserving the iconic history of the hotel while bringing modern flair and the classic creature comforts our guests look for,” says Luke Evanow, owner and CEO of Catalog Hospitality Group. “There is no property in the world like Sooke Harbour House. As a group, we are honored to bring this hotel back to the forefront of Canada’s luxury,
landmark hotel market.”

Over the coming months, the Catalog Hospitality team looks forward to working alongside its partners and the local community to develop the future vision of Sooke Harbour House, positioning itself as not only one of British Columbia’s, but one of the country’s most iconic destinations.

Three Culinary Concepts, One Destination

In addition to the renewed hotel experience, the new ownership group brings a redefined approach to dining that celebrates the bounty of Vancouver Island and the region’s reputation for food innovation:

Sooke Harbour House Restaurant: A fresh take on the iconic, Vancouver Island dining experience that made the property famous, now with a newly launched menu inspired by local produce, and sustainably sourced seafood and meat. The restaurant will honour its legacy while introducing modern style and bold Pacific Northwest flavours.

The Wine Cellar: An intimate venue for curated tastings and pairings, spotlighting both British Columbia winemakers and celebrated international labels. Designed for small gatherings and private events.

Garden Café & Bar: Launching January 2026, Garden Café is a casual, all-day café and bar that embraces the charm of the property’s garden setting. Featuring locally roasted coffee, fresh pastries, and approachable fare, by day the café is envisioned as a hub for both the Sooke community and visiting guests, fostering connection in a relaxed setting. And by night a great place to grab a local beer and burger.
