Kim Uncorked: Welcome to my weekly wine recommendation.
Hi, I’m Kim, a passionate lover of wine, food, and any experiences that bring the two together!
In this new weekly blog post, I’ll share my thoughts on wines that I’ve recently purchased from our local independent wine merchants, and I hope you’ll discover a few new wines to try. If you’d like to know more about me, I’ve included a brief bio following the post.

Reverdito Langhe Nascetta offers a rare expression of Piedmont’s ancient Nascetta grape, produced by the La Morra–based Reverdito winery, founded in 2000 by Michele Reverdito. The temperamental grape was on the verge of extinction until it was revived in the 1990’s, when a few producers had faith in the noble grape, believing it could rival the best whites of Piedmont and produce serious, age-worthy wines. Today, Nascetta is recognized as one of Langhe’s great white wines. Reverdito, based in the hilltop village of La Morra, practices sustainable viticulture and has produced Nascetta since 2013. Grapes come from limestone and marl-rich soils at elevations above 250 metres. They are hand-harvested, then fermented in stainless steel to preserve purity, texture, and freshness.
Despite a challenging growing season marked by early frosts and hail, the 2021 vintage in Piedmont was widely noted for its aromatic intensity and structure, delivering white wines with bright acidity and excellent balance—setting the stage for Nascetta’s character to shine.
In the glass, the wine shows a golden yellow hue. Aromas of red apple, kumquat, persimmon, almond, and subtle floral notes lead into a medium to full-bodied palate. The relatively high alcohol (14.5 abv) is balanced by pronounced acidity and a rich, slightly waxy texture. Flavours of lemon zest, more kumquat, saline minerality, and sage unfold with steely precision. A long, dry finish touches on a gentle, pleasant bitterness. Crisp yet layered, this is a complex, elegant white for both immediate appeal and the structure to evolve for a decade in the bottle.
Nascetta pairs well with raw seafood, vegetarian dishes, or light roasted meats such as chicken or rabbit.
