HAPPY TEPPAN-VERSARY: KOBE JAPANESE STEAKHOUSE CELEBRATES
58 YEARS WITH EXCLUSIVE $60 PRIX-FIXE MENU STARTING MARCH 9TH

Kobe’s 58th Anniversary Limited-Time-Only Menu Takes Centre Stage
Mondays Through Thursdays at Alberni Street Teppanyaki Institution

Kobe Japanese Steakhouse  will celebrate its 58th anniversary as a venerated Downtown dining institution by featuring a limited-time-only prix-fixe Anniversary Menu at the Vancouver hotspot at 1042 Alberni St. starting Monday, March 9th.

Available Mondays through Thursdays from 5 to 11 p.m., Kobe’s 58th Anniversary Menu showcases the dishes that have made it a favourite of locals and visitors alike since it opened its doors in 1968 and includes features such as Shabu Shabu Soup, Fresh Seasonal Vegetables and Teppan Shrimp all served with steamed rice, flame-kissed Tiger Prawns, Sirloin Steak and Teriyaki Chicken and a choice of Mario’s Gelati for dessert for $60 per person plus tax and gratuity. Guests also have the option of upgrading their experience by substituting a 6oz Filet Mignon for sirloin or adding a 4oz Lobster Tail for an additional charge.

Also featured for the duration of the 58th Anniversary Menu is a special cocktail called the Crown Jewel ($18) that adds a modern twist to a former menu favourite and offers a Japanese twist on a classic New York Sour in a libation that mingles Suntory Tori whisky, lychee sake, fresh lemon juice and simple syrup finished with a float of BC’s Monte Creek Ranch Winery’s Red Blend and garnished with lychee pearls.

Included with every dinner is the quintessential Kobe Steakhouse sense of hospitality and entertainment, as skilled master chefs and showmen elevate the experience by turning each visit into dinner and a show by preparing and serving up dishes with flair and panache before the eyes of delighted guests in a cozy and intimate enclave that exudes authentic Japanese ambiance at every turn.

Kobe’s roots go back to 1968, when Michael Bruser introduced Vancouver to a dining experience inspired by rural country inns and roadside eateries in Japan where home-spun fare was prepared using traditional teppanyaki-hibachi methods. In the 1980s Michael’s son Brian took the reins of the restaurant and most recently passed the baton to his son Dylan, who represents the third generation of ownership at Kobe.

Other popular nightly menu options at Kobe include Steak & Lobster (tender aged sirloin and lobster tail sautéed in sake and flamed in brandy), The ‘Emperor’s Feast’ (filet mignon, succulent tiger prawns, tender Teriyaki chicken breast, Mario’s gelati), guest favourite ‘The Ultimate’ (perfectly aged New York steak and lobster tail sautéed in sake and flamed in brandy, tender Teriyaki chicken breast, delicately broiled Atlantic scallops and Mario’s gelati) and the show-stopping, melt-in-your-mouth beef known as ‘The Godzilla’ — Vancouver’s finest and most sought-after cut of juicy, highly marbled Wagyu beef hailing from Miyazaki Prefecture.
