About this Visa Infinite Dining Series Experience
Michael Robbins and Rafael Covarrubias are among the country’s most talented young chefs, both leading Michelin-starred restaurants that sit atop the Canada’s 100 Best list. At the helm of Vancouver’s beloved AnnaLena, Chef Robbins welcomes Chef “Rafa,” who recently took over Toronto’s 20Vic after six years’ leading Hexagon in Oakville to both a C100B nod and a Michelin star.
Cardholders can expect fresh, exuberant flavours with innovative twists that combine Chef Robbins’s love for the Pacific Northwest, Chef Rafa’s Mexican heritage and a prodigious set of skills between them. Guests can also expect exceptional pairings from celebrated wine director Reverie Beall’s list of hard-to-find wines from small producers, including selections from the Okanagan’s Martin’s Lane and CheckMate Artisanal wineries.
ABOUT MICHAEL ROBBINS
AnnaLena is one of Vancouver’s most highly awarded restaurants, with a Michelin star, and currently No. 12 on Canada’s 100 Best list, and No. 35 of North America’s 50 Best. It was named Vancouver magazine’s Restaurant of the Year in 2023, with Michael Robbins winning Chef of the Year and Restaurant of the Year again in 2024, when it also won Gold in the Best Contemporary, Best West Coast, and Best Kitsilano categories. Along with Co-Owner and Operations Manager Jeff Parr, Executive Chef Michael Robbins opened AnnaLena in 2015, earning a Top 10 finish on enRoute’s Best New Restaurants. Since 2020, Chef Robbins has offered his fresh, flavourful, modern Canadian cuisine as a tasting-menu-only experience of local, seasonal ingredients, thoughtful wine pairings, and unique cocktails.
ABOUT RAFAEL COVARRUBIAS
Canada’s culinary world was abuzz last fall when Rafael Covarrubias left the one-Michelin-starred Hexagon in Oakville for the one-Michelin-starred 20 Victoria in Toronto, bringing his signature aged duck with him. Earlier, in 2019, Covarrubias put Oakville on the foodie map when the then-25-year-old propelled Hexagon onto Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants list. That same year, he won the North America’s San Pellegrino Young Chef Competition and, in 2021, placed third in the global final. In 2024, Michelin bestowed both a star and the Young Chef Award on Hexagon and its chef. Now, as Executive Chef and partner at 20 Victoria, he brings his Mexican heritage and impressive talent to one of Toronto’s brightest dining gems, which recently rose to No. 10 on Canada’s 100 Best.
