Chaberton 2013 Dry Bacchus

2013 Bacchus (Dry Reserve)

Chaberton

Langley, BC

$17.25

Tasted 2014 11

Straw coloured with medium-light intensity.  An inviting Muscat like nose showing aromas of peach, mineral, apple and citrus.  Good balance, clean and crisp.  Stone fruit (peach and nectarine), lemon and elderberry flavours on the palate.  A medium finish.  This lip smacking social wine will pair well with spicy Asian dishes, curries, white fish, seafood or a cheese platter.

Punggl Pinot Grigio

Tasted 2014 11

Rich golden yellow colour with medium intensity.  Peach, lime and mineral aromas on the nose.  Very well balanced.  Clean and dry on the palate with layered classic varietal flavours.  A medium-long finish.  This is an elegant wine that will pair well with Asian or Alsatian cuisines, seafood, creamy dishes or white meat.  I enjoyed it with fresh pan fried Fanny Bay oysters.

Quinta Ferreira 2011 Chardonnay

Silver Medal

Tasted 2014 11

Golden yellow with medium intensity.  The nose shows aromas of apple, lime, butter and vanilla.  Well balanced.  Apple, citrus, tropical fruit and buttery flavours on the palate with a medium-long finish.  Lovely with herb roasted chicken.

SouthEnd Black Crow-2

Nonvintage Black Crow (Dornfelder / Agria)

SouthEnd Farm and Vineyards

Quadra Island, BC

$17.81

Bronze Medal

Tasted 2014 11

Dark garnet red colour with medium-deep intensity.  Cotton candy, dark red fruit and earthy aromas on the nose.  The balance is satisfactory with a sweet entry and background acidity.  The tannins are soft.  The palate shows flavours of cranberry, red currant, raspberry and candy apple.  A medium finish.  Serve with pizza or burgers.  This wine improved greatly with breathing.  Give it plenty of time to open up.

Chateau Fleur 2004-2

2004 Bordeaux

Chateaux Fleur Cardinale

Saint-Emilion, France

$49.00

Gold Medal

Tasted 2014 11

Garnet black in colour with deep intensity.  Spice, black pepper and plum on the nose.  Very well balanced with good mouthfeel and silky soft tannins.  The flavours echo the nose with a medium-long lingering finish.  A very well aged Bordeaux.
