Expect the Spanish Inquisition at Heroic Opera’s Don Carlo
Get ready for an evening of opulence, intrigue, passion and corruption in the shadow of the Spanish Inquisition.
Heroic Opera is thrilled to present GiuseppeVerdi’s Don Carlos at the Annex Theatre on March 30th and 31st at 7:30pm and April 2nd at 2:00pm. Fully staged performance, in Italian with English surtitles. The opera hasn’t been seen in Vancouver in nearly 10 years and features an award-winning international cast as well as a modern twist on the classic story.
Don Carlos is one of Verdi’s most popular operas and tells the story of a Spanish prince who falls in love with his father’s ward, Elisabeth de Valois. Their forbidden romance leads them into conflict with not only the King but the Inquisition itself as they risk everything for love.
This is no traditional opera—it’s an indie production with a modern flare, and we guarantee that you haven’t seen anything like it before.
