Here are some interesting facts about Bellstar’s Beach Club Resort at Parksville on Vancouver Island that may be new to you. The Beach Club Resort is a responsible neighbour with an interest in their community.

 

·       Parksville Uncorked: Untapped Beer Tasting Event

o   All proceeds are donated to The Parksville AM Branch of Rotary International. Beach Club will be hosting a cheque presentation to Rotary after the event concludes in February.

·       Annual Earth Day Community Clean Up

o   Staff at The Beach Club Resort participates in the Annual Community Clean up in honor of Earth Day. The clean up includes garbage and recyclable collection from public areas in the community.

·       Arbour Day Tree Planting


o   Staff at The Beach Club Resort participates in the Annual Arbour Day Tree Planting. Trees are planted around the community and around The Beach Club Resort in honor of Arbour Day.

·       New Recycling Program for 2014

o   The Beach Club Resort is now making an active effort to further reduce waste and improve recycling efforts. Along with an in-room waste reduction and recycling incentives to guests, the resort also implements various resort-wide initiatives. Now in 2014, The Beach Club Resort has been able to reduce waste by an average of over 100 bags of waste per month.

·       Turndown the Heat Week 2014

o   The Beach Club Resort participates in ‘Turn Down the Heat Week’ from February 1-8. This is a province-wide campaign designed to improve energy efficiency while having a positive effect in the community. The program encourages guests to reduce electrical and gas waste by turning down the heat and wearing a sweater, and to donate sweaters for people in need.

·       The Beach Club’s Participation in the 3rd Annual Bellstar Food Bank Collection

o   The Beach Club contributed approx. 20kg of non-perishable food items for the local food bank in December of 2013 as part of Bellstar’s annual Holiday Food Bank Collection.

o   The Beach Club Resort collected 1,146 lbs of unused soap and liquid amenities in 2013 which was transformed into 3,580 bars of life saving soap to children and families in need worldwide. The Beach Club was also able to contribute 1,267 plastic bottles to Clean the World’s Project One and recycle 357 lbs. of plastic. These contributions kept waste from local landfills, reducing waste and reducing the contamination of our fragile groundwater systems.

·      Offset 87% of their annual carbon footprint.

·      542.6 tonnes of carbon offsets have been purchased from emission reducing projects.

·      That’s equivalent to taking 39, 610 cars off the road for a day!

·       Bike4FREE


o   The Beach Club Resort offers free bicycle rentals to guests to encourage green methods of transportation and physical fitness in the community. Free bike rentals include bike, helmet and lock and free and friendly suggestions from our team members for local tours. ·       The Beach Club Resort’s Stuffie


o   Bellstar Hotels & Resorts and The Beach Club Resort are introducing a stuffie to the Bellstar Resort Stuffie family. Partial proceeds from this New Stuffie, a Bald Eagle representing an indigenous animal in the area will be donated to the North Island Wildlife Recovery Association.

o   The Beach Club Resort is an active contributor of donations and donation programs that contribute to Children’s Charities & Hospitals, Family & Children’s Outreach Programs, Volunteer based Organizations, Health Foundations & Charities, Community Event and Club Sponsorships, Special Olympics Fundraisers, Educational Institutions, Parksville community programs & services, Wildlife Programs.
