Pilgrim & Pearl opens today, Tuesday, March 3rd for ‘Revival Hour’ (Happy Hour) with our first dinner service at 5:00 pm.
Opening within a week of each other, The Revival Group has brought three ‘firsts’ to the food and beverage scene in the Okanagan with the opening of 27 and Pilgrim & Pearl, both located in the newly renovated Prestige Hotel at the corner of Abbott and Highway 97 in downtown Kelowna.
A mere week ago, the doors of 27, the valley’s first ‘craft cocktail’ lounge opened to a thirsty crowd looking for unique, handcrafted, original and unique cocktails. A cocktail lounge with a food component, 27 hits a high note of artistic creativity with both menus.
Celebrating the creative spirits of the musical artists of the ’27 club’, artists such as Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison who died at this young age, 27 embraces the decadence and boldness of their lives. Black pushpin leather banquets, gold crown moldings, an eclectic mix of lighting, and a modern take on Morrocan-style seating, create an exotic, playful social experience for the guests.
The Revival Group Director of Operations, Gerry Jobe spearheaded the cocktail list, along with award-winning mixologists Luke Atherton and Dave Simpson. Sixteen classic cocktails, 15 original creations, 4 interpretations of Voodoo-style drinks, along with bottled and barrel aged cocktails round out a list that reads as a black and white photographic storybook complete with tales of the inspiration behind the space, the name and of course the cocktails.
Crispy Snails with Miso Mayo, Sweet & Sour Short Ribs, and Charred Oxtail with Tamarind Dipping Sauce and Kimchi stretch the boundaries of typical bar food.
27 opens daily at 5:00 pm until late.
Opening officially tonight, (Tuesday, March 3, 2015) the valley’s first oyster bar will find a home at Pilgrim & Pearl. Sit up at the 42-foot white granite bar with a central shuck and steam oyster station and peruse the selection of 10 oysters from BC, Canada and around the world, and enjoy raw or steamed along with steamed mussels and clams.
In contrast to the dark, exotic look of 27, Pilgrim and Pearl is light filled, water-coloured, granite accented space, named after the famed ‘Pilgrim Pearl’, worn by Hollywood royalty Elizabeth Taylor as a gift from her then-husband Richard Burton for Valentine’s Day.
The seafood focused menu serves up the classics such as New England Clam Chowder, Prawn Cocktail, Oyster Rockefeller and Coquille St. Jacques, plus you can find Lobster and Crab from the live tank, a seafood charcuterie board and even a lunchtime lobster roll. A blackboard will announce the butcher cuts of the day to create your own surf & turf menu or satisfy the carnivore in the group.
A twist on ‘Happy Hour’, ‘Revival Hour’, offers Dollar Oysters, Half Priced Lobster Rolls and fresh pressed, premium mescal margaritas daily from 3 – 6 pm.
Professional Sommelier Derek Morrison has curated an impressive wine and sparkling wine program for the restaurant focusing on “Grower” Champagnes and sparkling wines, including Canadian bubbly from coast to coast. In yet another first for this restaurant group, Pilgrim & Pearl presents the first exclusively Grower champagne list in British Columbia. “Grower” Champagnes and Sparkling wines are produced by the same estate that owns the vineyards where the grapes originate. They are usually made by small producers and express the terroir of their sites. The red and white wine list puts Canadian wines shoulder to shoulder to the European wines that inspired them and demonstrates the best expressions of these grapes.
Pilgrim & Pearl is open daily from 7:00am for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
