Le Vieux Pin to release Èquinoxe Syrah and Èquinoxe Cabernet Franc

Le Vieux Pin prepares to release their Flagship 2011 Èquinoxe Syrah and 2011 Èquinoxe Cabernet Franc on September 20th, 2014.

With past reviews by wine critics giving this Syrah and the Cabernet Franc 90 points plus, this years highly anticipated release of both wines has the winery team very excited.

For the Èquinoxe Syrah, most of fruit grown was grown from a single vineyard in North Oliver on an extension of the Black Sage Bench. As their flagship, this wine that captures the unique characteristics of the South Okanagan, with the heat of the desert days married with the cold of desert nights. It’s an intensely aromatic wine that has a refined elegance. The Èquinoxe Cabernet Franc was produced from just one row in their Feuille D’Or vineyard, resulting in a single Barrel. Some more vines have been planted but won’t be included until they reach the same levels of maturity and flavor profile as the already established old vines.

The 2011 Èquinoxe Syrah received some great accolades:

Julian Hitner (@Torontowineguy) | Hitnerwine.com on Èquinoxe Syrah 2011:

“The 2011 Équinoxe will provide considerable pleasure over the next six years. Dark ruby in colour, the wine reveals truly splendid aromas of peppery currants, plums, wild game, pipe tobacco, and a hint of dried blue fruits and spice. Complex, containing delicious fruit, firm tannins, balanced acidity, and an elegant, expressive hint of peppery currants, tobacco, and wild game on the finish. Great character, body, and class.” Now-2019

Past vintage reviews for the Èquinoxe Cabernet Franc:

John Schreiner on Le Vieux Pin Équinoxe Cabernet Franc 2008:

“This is one barrel of wine from a single row in the winery’s Feuille D’Or vineyard south of Oliver, cropped very low and aged 22 months in new French oak. The berries were destemmed entirely by hand before fermentation, a treatment some would think over the top but effective in making a top wine. The result is a wine with 15.1% alcohol and with the power of Amarone. It begins with a dramatic aroma of figs, black currants, liquorice and spice. On the big rich palate, there are flavours of blackberries, prosciutto, leather, cedar, finishing with layers of red fruit.” 93 points

Le Vieux Pin will release these wines on September 20th to their wine society members first, before it is available to the public. However, all pre-release orders are now being accepted at sales@nulllevieuxpin.ca.
