Now that the weather has turned most of us reach for our favorite comfort meals and wines that go with them. This rustic red from Sicily is reliable and widely available through B.C. Liquor stores. Nero D’Avola is medium bodied with the taste of cherries and coffee. Dark red in colour and a great match for any pasta dishes that include tomato based sauces. So spaghetti and meatballs or chicken parm would be good too.. It would also be the right choice for Friday night pizza. This is a wine that needs some air before you enjoy it so I’d recommend opening the bottle before you start making dinner. A decanter or an aerator would be other options to make sure you get the full flavour.
