There are times during a grey Vancouver winter when you need to channel summer. Usually that means a flight to Mexico, Hawaii or Palm Springs. The cheaper alternative is buying a wine that brings back memories of the patio and a steak on the BBQ. How fortunate I was to recently join friends in Kits for a lovely dinner party that featured steak along with two wines including Cline Zinfandel. Zin has always been a BBQ stalwart for me because it can stand up to marinades, rubs or sauces used to baste the beef. Cline makes a reliable, no nonsense wine that hits all the right notes. Dark fruit..think strawberries and cherries…lots of spice and this is one wine where the adjective jammy couldn’t be more appropriate. It has a long, smooth finish and for just a brief moment I imagined I was in my favourite winter haunt…Puerto Vallarta. Thank you Cline for making the trip so affordable.
