Vancouver Foodster presents the Pasta Challenge

This is our Pasta Challenge featuring 11 restaurants in Vancouver, Burnaby, and Langley, that runs from April 22 – May 17, 2015.

Participating restaurants are showcasing new Pasta creations for this Pasta challenge, all will be offered in all of these establishments during the challenge period .

Description:  A light, springtime pasta with bold earthy flavours.  Deliberately different, deliberately delicious.  Pan fried fiddleheads with lardons, leeks, garlic and herbs in IPA compound butter then added to capellini pasta with a light amount of cream.  Finished with beet chips, roasted pistachios, and fresh goat cheese.

Description: Traditional Italian ingredients, with origins stemming from the Romagna, Toscana and Umbria regions, merge together in creating a delicious experience shared by many in Italy’s distinct history and philosophy of its food.  Enjoy Pappardelle in a beef and chicken liver ragu, accented with flavours of pancetta, vermouth, sage, tomatoes and Grana Padano shavings.  Like the song ‘Romagna Mia’ it beckons the Old Country.

Offered: Pasta creation will be offered Sunday – Thursday as part of our a la carte dinner menu, as well as Pasta Hour, which offers a special price ($15) to include a glass of select wine. It will also be offered a la carte on Fridays and Saturdays between 5:30 and 7pm, or as part of our fixed price menu after 7pm (3 course menu for $45) when guests can also remain for the evening to enjoy entertainment/dancing.

For our Challenges, we have 2 sets of winners. The People’s Choice winners will be selected by the public who are invited to visit any of the participating restaurants and order the Pasta creations and then decide on which ones they think are worthy of winning the challenge by casting their votes.

Voting: The public is invited to order these Pasta creations at the participating restaurants keeping in mind this criteria – originality, creativity, uniqueness,  traditional, non-traditional, price, value and most importantly taste. People can vote the same day after trying the Pasta creation and they can vote once a day throughout the promotion. People will be encouraged to Vote for their favourites from April 22 – May 17, 2015.

With a smartphone, customers will be able to vote from their table in the restaurant right after they have eaten the Pasta creation.

We will announce the winning restaurants and their Pasta creations on May 19, 2015.
