Series Begins May 6 with Focus on Wines Hailing From the Veneto Region
Cibo Trattoria is set to take aficionados of all things Italian on an inspired tour of the country as the restaurant launches a series of five-course dinners that shine a light on some of Italy’s most famous cuisine and wine-producing regions.
Cibo Trattoria General Manager/Sommelier Robert Stelmachuk and Executive Chef Faizal Kassam will act as tour guides for the dinner series, which kicks off on Wednesday, May 6 with “In Vino Veneto”. This inaugural wine dinner focuses on the Veneto region of Northeast Italy, where the cool climate of the Alps helps produce whites such as Soave and warmer coastal plains and river valleys produce reds like Valpolicella, Amarone and Bardolino.
The dinner series continues Tuesday, June 2 as Cibo Trattoria highlights the wine and cuisine of Sicily, while the third event on Wednesday, July 8, titled “The Anti-Chianti Experience”, takes an atypical approach to wines hailing from Tuscany. The series culminates with the second annual “Bottle Royal” on Wednesday, Aug. 2 when Cibo Trattoria hosts a dinner and comparative tasting that will pit some of B.C.’s best wines against varietals from around the globe.
