You’ve voted, right? So now it’s time to reward yourself with the Taste of Yaletown #TOY2015
With 27 participating restaurants you are bound to find one that takes your fancy. I visited two Yaletown restaurants for Taste of Yaletown. Both are very different, both were great!
hapa izakaya – $24 menu Oct 15 – 29

At haps izakaya I enjoyed the Duck and Beets, House smoked organic duck breast, roasted red beets, pickled golden beets, sunflower seeds, served with apple jam and organic baby greens. It was crunchy and sublime, but I love both duck and beets so no brainer there.
For the second choice I totally went for the Matsutake Ravioli which was delicious and rich. Pine mushrooms, pine nuts, kale ravioli, served with creamy saikyo-miso mushroom sauce.
For the third choice I stepped a bit out of my comfort zone and had the Saba Sushi which was seared marinated mackerel pressed sushi. Very good even if you’re not a big fish fan.

At Yaletown Brew Pub we sampled everything you see pictured here plus a couple of brews. All the dishes were really good and very filling. One thing we didn’t try was their Cheesecake. Guess we’ll just have to go back again!
With thanks to the chefs and staff at both hapa izakaya and Yaletown Brew Pub for making #TOY2015 a fun and memorable experience. I wouldn’t want to forget a mention of Xoxolat chocolate shop on Homer Street where we started off our excursion with a little chocolate tasting.
