There will be murder in the air in Vancouver on March 11th to 13th as CUFFED International Crime Writers Festival, Canada’s newest festival of crime writing, brings together some of the genre’s most prominent names.

“I’m proud of the talent we’ve attracted to the inaugural CUFFED” says artistic director Lonnie Propas, who has been for many years involved as moderator of crime fiction events at the Vancouver Writers Festival.

The Performance Works stage on Granville Island will host a rich calendar of events. Among them a crime writing seminar by international bestseller Linwood Barclay, a special event with literary lights Gail Bowen, William Deverell and Ian Hamilton and other themed events offering Festival patrons ample opportunity to rub elbows with the 20 authors who will be assembled for the weekend.

Producer Alma Lee was the driving force behind the Vancouver International Writers Festival for many years and says she has enjoyed the direction change she’s found with CUFFED. “I’ve always enjoyed the genre and this is a new challenge. I don’t believe anyone is doing a crime focused festival at this level.

Tickets are available through the CUFFED website (www.cuffedfestival.com). Real fans of the crime genre will want to take advantage of a full Festival pass for just $99 that gives access to all nine events.
