To complement Vancouver TheatreSports™ League’s (VTSL) improvised parody, Throne and Games – A Chance of Snow, Paul Belsito, bar manager of VTSL’s Neil Macrae Bar & Lounge, has created a trio of tasty potions inspired by the characters and locations in the popular HBO TV series.
Tyrion’s Wine – represents the Lannisters. A sangria (in keeping with the sanguine theme of the show), this is a red-wine- based cocktail enhanced with Lemon San Pellegrino and fruit. It can also be made with white-wine for those who prefer their cocktails less ‘bloody.’
Castle Black – symbolizes The Wall (which is a feature element in the VTSL production) and Winterfell. Zubrowka Vodka (a Polish Bison Grass vodka), Kahlua, and Pepsi mingle to create a dark, brooding libation worthy of the Night’s Watch.
Dragon Fire – Daenerys and her Dragons are signified in this fiery cocktail featuring Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, Ginger Ale, and Cranberry Juice. First introduced at last year’s run of Throne and Games – Laughter is Coming, this cocktail was so popular Paul is ‘resurrecting’ it.
Value-priced at $8 these special T&G (not G&T) cocktails are available only through the run of Throne and Games – A Chance of Snow, April 7 – May 28.
Tucked away at the back of VTSL’s The Improv Centre on Granville Island (1502 Duranleau Street), the fully-licensed Neil Macrae Bar & Lounge is a convenient place for theatre patrons to meet for pre or post-show drinks. Patrons can also take their beverages into the theatre with them to enjoy during the performance.
