Vancouver Christmas Market
Not even the torrential November rains in Vancouver could “dampen” the spirits of the attendees at the preview opening of the Vancouver Christmas Market last week. All of the features that visitors have grown to love are present again this year in an extended space which features Canada’s first walk-in Christmas tree as well as popular favourites like the carousel.
Outside entertainment was provided by “The Gingerbread Men”, a talented, quartet of acapella singers, who were entirely undaunted by the rain and delighted the audience with original interpretations of traditional Christmas carols. Inside, Doe Bender’s Jazz Trio played on the Christmas Pyramid’s new ‘Flying Stage’ perched 10ft high above the market.
Every detail of this year’s market is impressive. Food and drink opportunities abound. Visitors will not want to miss the Glühwein (a hot-spiced mulled wine), Bratwurst, Gulasch, Spätzle, Schnitzel and other German staples, as well as the food from several local vendors including fresh sustainable seafood from Eat F.I.S.H.
Christmas shoppers looking for one of a kind beautifully crafted gifts will be thrilled at the variety and selection of items to choose from. From beer steins and nutcrackers to woodwork, clothing and soap, there is something memorable for everyone on the list.

Good article covering the Vancouver tradition, which also includes rain, unfortunately!
