Expect the Unexpected at VTS’ WTF – What the Fun!
Fridays & Saturdays at 11:15pm
End your week with laughs at WTF – What the Fun!, the newest late, late-night show from Vancouver TheatreSports™ (VTS), which takes place Fridays and Saturdays at 11:15pm at The Improv Centre on Granville Island. Tickets start at $10.75 and are available online at www.vtsl.com. (This show is rated NC 17 and is therefore not suitable for children under the age of 17.)
With the aid of audience suggestions, WTF takes its inspiration from the bizarre stories found in the weekly news and turns them into edgy comedy. Recent gems include: “Fish fall from the sky in Northern Mexico,” “Shark nearly chokes to death on moose, is saved by Canadian bystanders,” and “Goat refuses to leave Sask. Tim Hortons, gets ‘arrested’ by RCMP.”
We can all attest to seeing weird stories such as these pop up in our news feeds. Who hasn’t felt the compulsion to open one to see if the headline is really true? The stories never turn out the way you expect them to and that is part of their fascination. Another segment of the show features ‘reinterpretations’ of fun times had by audience members when our on-stage improvisers put their own spin on Instagram photos or written anecdotes provided by the audience.
Who knows what will happen when VTS’ talented improvisers bring their lightning fast wits to add to the scenario. What we can tell you is that it will result in totally unpredictable hilarity and cutting comedy.
