Spirited Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea Hits East Van
Odd Society Spirits hosts High (Proof) Tea with Rabbit’s Foot Culinary on May 12
In partnership with two of Vancouver’s favourite secret supper club hosts, Toby Neumann and chef Tobias Grignon of Rabbit’s Foot Culinary, Odd Society Spirits (1725 Powell St., Vancouver) presents High (Proof) Tea on Sunday, May 12, 2019. While this unique afternoon tea coincides with Mother’s Day, everyone is invited and encouraged to join the party.
Afternoon tea was originally considered a short break from work or a way to help pass the long afternoon hours with nibbles, sips and some light conversation. High (Proof) Tea is keeping with the tradition of a leisurely food event that takes place sometime between lunch and supper by offering a seating time choice of 12:30 or 3 p.m., and tea will be served. But this afternoon gathering in East Van is anything but traditional.
A delightful arrangement of intricate bites using locally-sourced ingredients will be served along with a choice of warming teas and imaginative cocktails. These midday libations are a nod to the whimsy of children’s fiction writer, Lewis Carroll, and rooted in unique ingredients and authentic flavour profiles, including fermented, smoked, nutty, green, floral and sweet. Stare deep though the looking glass and you just might find Alice: a choice of Odd Society Spirits vodka or gin, Elderflower Liqueur, Bittersweet Vermouth, honeybush tea, lemon, celery bitters, Ms. Better’s Miraculous Foamer and usnea herbal tea.
