I love the Guest House at Burrowing Owl and every time we stay there I wonder why I waited so long to come back. Probably one of the most relaxing stay away it’s possible to have. The suites are spacious and well appointed. Who can argue with a complimentary bottle of wine waiting for your arrival?
The most comfortable beds with quality linens for the best possible sleep. Every room has views and overlooks the solar heated salt water pool. Did I mention the Burrowing Owl Guest House is exclusively for adults?
A bathroom that ticks all the boxes; soaker tub and a separate shower. What you will notice if you appreciate them, and hardly notice if you don’t need them, are the grab bars secured in the necessary locations in the bathroom. Equipped with a hairdryer, spa like toiletries and the most luxurious towels.
The usual amentities such as an iron and ironing board, safe for your valuables, slippers and housecoats. Pool towels are available at the pool deck. Lounges, umbrellas, tables and chairs for all guests are available at the pool patio area.
Let me assure you the rooms are truly exceptional, spacious, comfortable and the views are memorable. All the rooms have spectacular views of the vineyards and across to the mountains gracing the Oliver/Osoyoos region. Our room had the most heavenly king size bed with quality linens and super comfy down pillows, a desk for working (?), two cozy armchairs and ottoman, a wine bar with bar fridge, coffee maker, wine glasses of course, a fireplace, and the most magnificent bathroom with a luxurious bathtub and separate shower. The decor is a bit Mediterrean but still has a feeling of light and airiness with windows out to that beautiful view. I especially enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the pool and patio.
The most scrumptious breakfast is included! Delicious, freshly baked goods. My favourite were the egg nests (a yummy baked egg smothered in rich cheese and sitting inside a Black Forest Ham “nest”), homemade jams and jellies, creamy butter, peanut butter, cream cheese. Fresh fruit in season, yogurt, coffee, tea, juice. Milk for cereal or as a beverage. A toaster to make your own toast when you want it, hot and ready to eat. Bagels, croissants, and my favourite, pain chocolat. Hint: get there early for the best selection.
You can enjoy breakfast inside with the daily national newspaper or outside under an umbrella near poolside. Either way it is a wonderful and relaxing way to start the day.
