Yuwa Japanese Cuisine Welcomes Amabuki Brewery for ‘Secret Garden’ Sake Dinner on September 18

IN FULL BLOOM: YUWA JAPANESE CUISINE WELCOMES AMABUKI BREWERY FOR ‘SECRET GARDEN’ SAKE DINNER ON SEPTEMBER 18

One-Night-Only Event Showcases Acclaimed Japanese Brewery’s Array of Artisan Sakes Fermented Exclusively with Flower Yeast During Multi-Course Paired Dinner

Yuwa Japanese Cuisine will take guests on a guided tour of the gardens that give Japanese brewery Amabuki its international renown when it welcomes the celebrated sakemaker for a special ‘Secret Garden’ Sake Dinner at the upper Kitsilano restaurant on Wednesday, September 18.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., Yuwa Sake Sommelier and Co-Owner Iori Kataoka will welcome That’s Life Gourmet National Brand Manager Mariko Tajiri and Amabuki Sake Brewery Export Manager Wataru Hosokawa for a one-of-a-kind culinary adventure showcasing an array of sakes from Amabuki, which was established in 1688 in Saga Prefecture.

Featured sakes will include Hidden Daiginjo Abelia Yeast, Junmai Ginjo Strawberry Yeast and Junmai Daiginjo Kimoto, among others — all of which follow the brewery’s modern technique of using flower yeast as part of the traditional fermentation process — and be paired with an eight-course feast featuring Chef and Co-Owner Masahiro Omori’s signature interpretation of traditional Japanese cuisine.

“This is a very special occasion and a rare opportunity for sake aficionados to get up close and personal with some of Amabuki’s most prized sakes,” says Kataoka. “For more than three hundred years, this brewery has been crafting world-class sakes with yeast cultivated from flowers, which makes their products truly unique in the wide world of sake.”
