Gastown announces outdoor festive COVID-friendly activations for Vancouverites to enjoy this holiday season
Vancouver’s historic neighbourhood invites Vancouverites to shop local in Gastown and enjoy the return of the #KissMeInGastown mistletoe activation alongside a virtual augmented reality installation.
The Gastown BIA announces two holiday activations for Vancouverites to enjoy throughout December. Gastown is encouraging customers to continue supporting local businesses while safely enjoying two outdoor festive displays:
-
Glow Up! Gastown Augmented Reality (AR) in partnership with Vancouver Mural Festival (VMF): Come see an AR installation, inspired by the notorious maple tree, to create interactive glowing trees that will sprout out of Gastown’s cobblestone streets at three iconic locations. The installations were created by the VMF in collaboration with Gastown based augmented reality company, Shape Immersive.
The installation can be easily viewed by scanning a QR code decal on-site with a smartphone camera. Visitors are encouraged to share what they see on Instagram and Facebook with the hashtag #glowupgastown for a chance to win one of four $200 Gastown gift cards, donated by technology services company, Global Relay.
