Vancouver’s first kinesiology-only studio moves to new location in Yaletown

Symmetrix Exercise & Rehab, Vancouver’s first-ever kinesiology-only studio, is moving to a new space optimized for personal training and active rehab in downtown Vancouver. Symmetrix and its team of eight kinesiologists will be relocating to 1059 Cambie Street on May 1st, 2021.

The new studio space was selected for the focused, client-centric care it will allow the Symmetrix team to provide. Symmetrix specializes in exercise rehab, personal training, and ICBC active rehab and ergonomics. Kinesiology places an emphasis on the science of movement and function for improved mobility and increased quality of life. This treatment is tailored for everyone from performance athletes to those dealing with injury or disability. Clients benefit from reaching their health goals and overcoming injury.

“With the new location, we’re able to create a space based on what our kinesiologists need to most effectively treat our clients,” says Dasha Maslennikova, kinesiologist and co-owner of Symmetrix. “We’ve purchased new equipment based on what our kinesiologists have requested, and they’ve designed the layout. They’re all enthused about the level of care this space will allow them to provide, and the benefits our clients will see, both physically and mentally.”

The new studio space is over 1,500 sq feet, boasting a large, open-concept floor space, separate change rooms that includes a shower, and a dedicated reception area. The new location also has level access, which was essential to the Symmetrix team to best treat rehab clients with mobility challenges.

The selection of the new location was also informed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The studio has a new HVAC system for effective ventilation and air movement, and is designed for efficient client flow-through.

“For this move, we listened to our kinesiologists, and we carefully considered our clients,” says Kent Macwilliam, clinic manager and co-owner of Symmetrix. “We knew we needed to prioritize health and safety now and beyond the pandemic, so we focused on the features our clients need now and well into the future.

“More than 25% of our clients are working through a chronic health condition. We have a wonderful, loyal client base, and we’re glad we’ve found a space that will help our clients feel safe and comfortable while achieving results.”

Symmetrix will be open at its new location for in-person sessions at a carefully limited capacity, following all protocols set out by the Vancouver Coastal Health Region.
