The iconic Okanagan winery offers multiple ways to make this festive season special

Mission Hill Family Estate is getting ready to welcome the holiday season with Season of Trees, a magical winter wonderland and wine tasting experience benefiting BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (BCCHF).

From November 29 to December 23, the winery will mark its fifth year as host venue for a lush forest of trees sponsored and decorated by local, Kelowna-area businesses, community organizations, and personal groups.

The Festival of Trees is a grassroots campaign held in communities across British Columbia to fundraise for the province’s only children’s hospital. In the four years that Mission Hill Family Estate and Kelowna have participated, more than $109,000 has been raised locally to support BCCHF.

In 2021, all proceeds from this province-wide fundraising are earmarked to support youth mental health programs offered through BC Children’s Hospital. The big, but achievable Kelowna 2021 goal? To contribute another $50,000 to this critical cause.

“Each year, BC Children’s Hospital does work that directly impacts 96,000 young patients,” notes Mission Hill Family Estate Head Winemaker Corrie Krehbiel. “As we rediscover the joy of celebrating, please join us at Mission Hill Family Estate to decorate a holiday tree or raise a glass together in support of BCCHF as our shared community cause.”

HOW TO HELP: As a Tree Sponsor
Tree sponsorship is an excellent opportunity to practice community leadership, teamwork, and creativity while having fun safely outdoors at Mission Hill Family Estate. Businesses, organizations, and personal groups are all invited to sponsor a tree. This year, in addition to branding and engagement opportunities, sponsorship includes a chance to win a Winery Holiday Gift Basket. Charitable tax receipts will also be issued from BCCHF. To become a Festival of Trees sponsor, contact Alexa McDermott at amcdermott@nulliconicwineries.com or go to bcchf.ca/FOTKelowna.

HOW TO HELP: As a Winery Guest
Book a Season of Trees festive tasting for any date between November 29 and December 23. Enjoy a special behind-the-scenes tour of the winery’s barrel cellar followed by a seated new release wine tasting, paired with holiday bites. Guests can then explore the brilliant outdoor forest of sparkling, sponsor-decorated trees, and vote for a favourite.

New for 2021, guests that book a Season of Trees tasting on Sundays (December 5, 12, 19), can also stroll the winery’s pop-up Evergreen Market mini event on the Loggia featuring a hand-picked selection of local vendors and experts each week.

Ten dollars from every Season of Trees tasting goes to BCCHF. Mission Hill Family Estate is also matching all donations made by Wine Club members who visit for their complimentary tasting over fundraising dates. Reservations for Season of Trees tastings are available online at missionhillwinery.com/event/season-of-trees/.
